I like your post so far...but I notice you have left out a sect of Buddhism...you know I am a Nichiren Buddhist and I would be happy to supply you some information...I am not as articulat as you...here check out this site....
Nicheren Buddhism is what I practice... I chant Nam-Myoho-Renge-Kyo... I chant for clarity... I chant for a new car... I chant for world peace... I chant for a new place to live... I tell you this because you can chant for anything you want in my buddhism... I call it mine because no one can tell you how to practice your faith.. be it catholicism to wicca... (btw my spelling stinks)
