I was either born deaf, or acquired deafness very early in life. I was about 4 years old when my parents found about it anyways. It first occurred that they found out when my mother talked to me one day when I was sitting on the floor watching TV.

After calling me several times with no reaction, mom got up and walked up close behind me, clapping her hands loudly right behind my head. I didn't even flinch. They immediately made an appointment with an Ear, Nose and Throat Specialist. After many tests they concluded that I was deaf. I had 5% hearing in one ear and none in the other. I had been reading lips.

After a bunch of procedures being done on my ears, they got some of my hearing back. One of the procedures I remember quite distinctly. The doctor stuck a very long syringe through my ear drum to the inside. He told me to hold a kidney basin under my ear and to tell him when the pain was excruciating and that he would stop for a few minutes, then continue, which occurred a few times throughout the procedure. He did this on both ears.

Years later, my ears were tested by a safety company. At that point I had 35% hearing loss in one ear and 30% hearing loss in the other. I was told by numerous doctors and specialists since then that my ears would never get better, only worse.

The only thing that I have done or had done to my ears since then is that for 2 years I did Reiki on my ears back in 2000 to 2002 steadily, then sporadically after that. I have had my ears tested by the same company since then. I am now in the top 5% of hearing.

At work at a taxi cab company in the dispatch office (my night job), the first thing I do before punching in my phone code is turn the headset down from 7-9....... to 1 (9 being the loudest) Every other person that I know of in the office have theirs set at 7-9. I keep mine at 1-3. I have worked there over a year and a half, never turning it up high.

I am grateful that God has helped me to heal, with the wonderful Universal Life Force Energy of Reiki. I continue to do Reiki on myself daily, and teach others how.

Anne I never even consider your deafness, you hear fine to me. My ears are way worse than yours are, genetic defect the drs say. but anywho I can still hear music!!!

Oh and my deafness was supposedly caused by Chronic Upper Respiratory Infections, including ear infections, that I was born with, so yes a birth defect of sorts. The chronic infections lasted many decades, from birth, until I experienced past life regressions, and Reiki, to deal with the root cause, in my 40's.

I have them no longer. Every time I used to get a cold it would be accompanied by either Bronchitis or Pneumonia, as well as an ear infection, but no longer. I am the healthiest person at the place I work, having only experienced a minor cold once or twice in the almost 2 years that I have worked there.

Even so, by treating myself with Reiki, I pushed the sore throat through in (instead of 3 days as per norm) 1 hour. The cold only lasted 2 or 3 days, as compared to 1 to 2 weeks minimum for all others at work. A lady there has had it for over 3 weeks.
